Modelling & Simulation
Novel integration of interdisciplinary modelling & simulation approaches to predict health system response to mass casualty blast events
Using the 2020 Beirut Blast event as a case study, we will scope the feasibility of interdisciplinary and novel modelling and simulation approaches and research into health systems responses to mass casualty blast events. This project is being supported by internal funding awarded by the University of Southampton.
Project Objectives
Build the relationships between faculties and partners to sustain further research activity in this area
Gather data for the development of simulation models of the Beirut health system
Undertake preliminary models of blast loading effects and injury predictions of the Beirut explosion
Fuse these approaches to develop and evaluate conceptual simulation model of the Beirut health system’s response to the blast.
This project will include an international workshop to be held in Beirut in 2023. For more information, click here.
